Magazine
WALDO is a curated print magazine created to spotlight emerging voices shaping culture across New York’s fashion, music, and creative scenes. The challenge was to design an editorial experience that could honor the individuality of each featured artist while maintaining a cohesive structure. The publication needed to serve as both an archival artifact and a contemporary platform, capturing the pulse of New York’s underground while remaining visually timeless.
The foundation of the magazine was a modular layout system designed to accommodate diverse types of content, from portrait-heavy fashion editorials to longer-form artist interviews. For each feature, I adjusted typography, color accents, and pacing to complement the mood and medium of the artist’s work. This responsive framework created a visual rhythm that kept the reading experience fresh and dynamic.
The physical design of the magazine further emphasized its cultural value. It is housed in a white cloth sleeve, adding a tactile, collectible quality while referencing the fashion-forward nature of the subjects within. Every element, from page composition to material choice, was designed to elevate the magazine into a curated object that acts as both a visual time capsule and a directory of New York’s next generation of creative voices.
